Morley's got some of the most established streets in Perth's north — big leafy blocks in Dianella and Embleton with mature trees that have been growing for fifty-odd years. Those trees are beautiful, but they're also the number one reason people call me about reception problems in this area. A gum tree that was two metres tall when your antenna went up is now twelve metres tall and sitting right in the signal path.
Dianella's tree-lined streets are the worst for it. I did three jobs in one week along Alexander Drive where every single house had the same issue — mature trees had grown above the antenna height. The Galleria precinct creates signal shadows for the streets immediately behind it — Light Street, Marchant Avenue, that whole pocket. Big commercial buildings are like walls for TV signals. If you're in that zone and getting patchy reception, it's almost certainly the building, not your antenna. A higher mount or repositioning to the other end of your roof usually fixes it.
Airport Interference & Quick Fixes
Embleton's an interesting mix. You've got the original 1960s fibro homes being knocked down and replaced with modern duplexes. The new builds have great internal cabling but sometimes the antenna installer during construction didn't take the time to aim it properly. The old fibro homes have the opposite problem — decent antenna, rubbish cabling.
Bedford's proximity to Perth Airport means some homes get occasional RF interference, especially during heavy flight traffic. It's rare enough that most people don't notice, but if you're getting weird interference patterns at specific times of day, that could be why.
